Changing employer (iqama transfer)

How job transfer works on Qiwa since the Labor Reform Initiative.

General information, not advice. This page summarises publicly available rules in plain language. It is not legal advice or a recommendation to take any action. Procedures, fees and fines change without notice and can differ by case. The official portal below is the only authoritative source.

You need: A job offer from a new employer who is registered on Qiwa.

Steps

  1. The new employer creates a job offer on Qiwa using your iqama number.
  2. You accept it on Qiwa within the allowed time. Accepting makes the new contract binding.
  3. Your current employer is notified. If you have finished your first year, you can move after the notice period even without their approval.
  4. You may also move without approval if your contract has ended, your salary was unpaid for 3 months in a row, or your employer let your iqama or work permit expire.
  5. The new employer pays the transfer fee and updates your iqama.

Important: Do not leave your job before the transfer is completed on Qiwa. Leaving early can lead to an 'absent from work' report.
