General information. History is summarised from established sources, and visiting rules come from official guidance, which can change. For religious guidance, consult a qualified scholar.

History

Mina is a valley about 7 km east of Masjid al-Haram. Pilgrims stay here on 8 Dhul Hijjah and again on the days after Eid al-Adha.

The three Jamarat pillars, which pilgrims stone during Hajj, are in Mina. Today they stand inside a multi-level bridge built to manage the crowds safely.

Masjid al-Khayf in Mina is associated in narrations with the prayers of many prophets.
