Arriving & settling

Renting a home (Ejar)

Register your lease so it is legally recognised.

General information, not advice. This page summarises publicly available rules in plain language. It is not legal advice or a recommendation to take any action. Procedures, fees and fines change without notice and can differ by case. The official portal below is the only authoritative source.

You need: Iqama, the landlord's details, and a licensed real-estate office or the landlord's Ejar account.

Steps

  1. Agree the rent, payment schedule and who pays utilities before you sign.
  2. Ask for the lease to be registered on the Ejar platform. You receive an SMS to approve it in your name.
  3. Read the Ejar contract on screen before you approve. What is registered is what counts in a dispute.
  4. Keep proof of every rent payment.
  5. When you leave the property, make sure the contract is ended in Ejar. An open lease in your name can block your final exit.
